The policy climate is void of voices that reflect the changing face of the epidemic in the UK. The AHPN continues to ensure that the lived experience of being HIV positive and African in the UK is at the forefront of our work.
There are estimated to be more than 8,000 African people living with diagnosed infection in the UK. In addition several thousand more African people living in the UK have undiagnosed HIV infection since studies have shown that around 2/3 of African people in the UK have never tested for HIV. HIV prevalence is many times higher among African people in the UK than among the White British majority.
